Facebook celebrated their 10th anniversary this week. Just imagine, if you could, a typical day in our lives before facebook, twitter, LinkedIn and similar social media. Social almost meant something completely different. All the connections we made, occurred across our traditional channels—web, email, phone, and face-to-face. Microsoft Surface - Review and First Day Impressions

We got our pre-ordered Microsoft Surface RT yesterday. I had some experience using a Windows 8 on Samsung Series 7 tablets in the context of the Windows 8 applications we have been developing for sometime, but using the Surface RT as a consumer user is very different. It was worth the wait and standing in crazy long line in front of the Microsoft Store in the Bellevue Square Mall. Overall Microsoft has done an awesome job with the Surface.

Microsoft’s gone Modern! – Windows 8 and “Modern” UI Style

Microsoft is getting a full make over! We had been hearing from Microsoft that the “Metro”, which is now called the “Modern” UI Style is going to be defining UI style through the bold use of color, typography, and motionstyle creating a brand new, live and fresh experience across all of Microsoft products. I recently upgraded my Samsung Focus Windows Phone to Mango build which is now called Windows Phone 7.5. If you are not upgraded yet you can use the "upgrade trick". Search the net or email me!The reason I am bringing this up is that we at iLink have developed various Windows Phone 7.5 apps for larger projects that provide BI data and other information for mobile workers. Overall we are seeing a strong upswing in the interest in developing for Windows Phone 7.5.

Business Intelligence For All Businesses

12 / Sep / 2011    Ravi Mallikarjuniah

Exactly what is BI? Traditionally BI meant data warehousing, decision support and analysis. Business intelligence has come a long way and has transformed into a broader and deeper space as a key ingredient for aiding and executing business strategies. Intelligence or understanding of the business is achieved through collecting key information about core business actives such as marketing, sales, services etc. and analyzing behavior of customers, staff, suppliers, so that right actions can be taken at the right time. BI system would involve continually collecting (data warehousing) information about the organizational activities and then further organizing it to facilitate analysis, reporting, data mining and catering to more diverse analysis needs.
